High in the sky: geology and flying

Atle Rotevatn, who in addition to being a professor in our department is also well into his training to become a pilot (PPL-A for those familiar with flying). In this talk he will show pictures and video from geology spotting flying trips in New Zealand, as well as from spectacular flights in Greenland (although these latter ones were piloted by actual proper pilots). He will introduce us to the combined joys of flying and geology, and we will spend time in the New Zealand Alps, the southern coast of New Zealand, and see some beautiful braided river systems from low altitude in a single-engine aircraft. We will also spend some time in Greenland, looking down at the amazing deltas and coastal geomorphology of the NE Greenland national park. Perhaps also other members of staff or students will want to get into flying after this?
