Coseismic Ground Failures of 2020 Petrinja Earthquake & Plans for PhD adventure
At the upcoming Geolunch event, I will introduce myself through a two-part presentation. Within the first part, I will discuss prior research on coseismic ground failures that followed the 2020 Petrinja earthquake in Croatia. While I’ll cover all observed processes, I’ll primarily focus on sand boils, lateral spreading, subsidence (resulting from liquefaction), gravitational movements on slopes, and the sudden emergence of numerous collapse sinkholes. This will be followed by a brief overview of my PhD research proposal, highlighting the intended data and methodologies. I am looking forward to holding the presentation, and even more to your questions and comments, especially for the latter part.
