Modelling and inversion of electromagnetic induction log using the Integral Equation method
Electromagnetic (EM) induction logging tools are commonly used to assist the optimal trajectory decision process while drilling. The tool typically has multiple axial components with different sensitivities to the subsurface structure and anisotropy. Three-dimensional (3D) inversion of induction logs enables imaging of complex geological formations. However, it is still very challenging because of the significant computational cost of the 3D forward modelling. This motivates the study of inexpensive approaches to the forward and inverse problems. In this talk, I will give an overview of the things we have developed based on the implementation of the Integral Equation method on the forward and inverse problems.”
