Welcome to the Geolunch seminars’ page!

Geolunch seminars are friendly and informal scientific meetings of the Geophysics and the Geodynamics & Basin studies group, but open to everyone. All Solid Earth related topics are welcome, as well topics related to coupling the Solid Earth to other domains (e.g., surface processes).

Presentations (~20-30 minutes + 15 minutes for questions) are normally scheduled every Wednesday at 12:15, and take place in room 2G16c (“Kontinentalsokkelen”), second floor of the Science building, Allégaten 41).

NOTE TO MSc + PhD SUPERVISORS
Last year we ran a successful session focussed on the work of masters students and are keen to get more masters students involved in the Geolunch. We had plenty of interest from MSc students wishing to come again and be aware of sessions but we cannot advertise through the student mailing lists, so need some help from supervisors for this! If you have a student who you think would like or should attend – please get them to sign up for the mailing list using this form and we will add them to the mailing list. Likewise, if you have new PhD students or postdocs starting please forward this on to them.

CALL FOR SPEAKERS
The schedule for the current semester is quite open for now, and we are looking for speakers. If you’d like to give a talk please register for one of the available sessions on the Geolunch Rallly poll or get in touch. We’re keen to hear from everyone in GEO – and this year we’d particularly like to offer up “Professor Slots” where permanent staff can update us on the activities of their group, their own research or projects, or even recent cruises/fieldwork/sabbaticals or proposal successes and ideas! William Helland Hansen will be kicking off the first of these on the 30th August where he will be telling us about his book he is writing on some top geological sites in Norway!

All the best,
Felix, Sebastian, Thomas, Tim, Stéphane, Albina, Matteo, Helene and Leo
